Cleaning a Waterproof Pendant
Caution: Cleaning should only be performed with the battery door in place and in the locked position. Cleaning should be performed by hand using a damp cloth and mild soap, or disinfectant wipes designed for household use such as baby wipes. Do Not Use The following products should never be used to clean the waterproof pendants:
Strong cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleach, alcohol or quaternary disinfectant.
Abrasive or powder cleansers.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
The following equipment and processes must never be used:
Steam autoclave or commercial sterilization procedures using heat, chemical, gas or radiation techniques.
Dishwasher or washing machine.
Soaking or suspending the pendant in water or other liquids.
Using any of these products or processes will damage the pendant. The plastic used for the pendant is durable and designed to withstand exposure to most common substances including soaps and skin lotions. However, there are some types of creams, lotions or sprays which contain chemicals that may dull the finish of the housing. These include insect repellents containing DEET, sunscreen and topical analgesics. If an end user is using these types of products, they should avoid having the pendant come into direct contact with them.

Battery Care for a Waterproof Pendant
Waterproof Pendants have two batteries. The first is a coin-cell CR2032 battery that is user replaceable via the locking back door. The second is a non-serviceable rechargeable battery. If the coin cell battery dies and is not replaced in a timely manner, the rechargeable battery will also die, which will permanently disable the pendant. Care needs to be taken to replace the coin-cell battery before this occurs.

Always use Panasonic Lithium CR2032 batteries in Waterproof Pendants

Introduction
The EN1221S-60 pendant employs a proprietary power management system that consists of a user-replaceable CR2032 lithium metal coin cell battery and a non-accessible, non-replaceable lithium polymer pouch battery.
The coin cell battery is the energy source for recharging the pouch battery.
The pouch battery provides peak power capacity for all RF transmissions, as well as LED and vibration motor operation.
The pendant is shipped to our customers in storage mode, an ultra-low battery state designed to protect the life of the pouch battery. The shelf life of the device in storage mode is approximately 12 months. If the device remains in storage mode for more than 12 months, the voltage on the pouch battery will drop below a critical threshold and the device will cease to operate and cannot be recovered. For this reason, it is essential that the coin cell battery be installed prior the 12 month shelf life expiration date that appears on the carton.
Best Practices
If a device will not be deployed to an end user for more than 12 months from the date of manufacture, you should install the coin cell battery and activate the device per the instructions in the EN1221S-60 Waterproof Pendant Installation and Operation Manual.
If the device has remained idle for more than 6 months, we advise a 72 hour charging period before deploying the pendant to an end user.
If the device will remain unused after installing the coin cell battery, it will operate for approximately three years, assuming no button presses.
If the device is registered into the application software, it can be monitored via the hourly check-in messages.
If the device is not registered, the check-in messages will be sent but not heard.
The coin cell battery is the energy source for recharging the pouch battery.
The pouch battery provides peak power capacity for all RF transmissions, as well as LED and vibration motor operation.
The EN1221S-60 pendant is designed to operate within a temperature range of 32 to 140°F and be stored in ambient conditions of 69 to 73°F. The pouch battery is the same technology used in mobile phones. It is designed to withstand exposure to temperatures as low as -4°F for up to one year, as long as it not being charged by another power source, such as the CR2032 coin cell battery. If the pouch battery is being charged at temperatures below 32°F, the chemicals inside the battery are at risk of physical damage that can cause the pendant to irretrievably fail.

If the pendant is left in below-freezing temperatures with the coin cell installed, the pendant will be permanently damaged
Best Practices
We recommend that the pendant be shipped without the coin cell battery installed if temperature will be below 32°F.
If exposed to conditions below 32°F during shipping, the pendant should be kept at room temperature for 24 hours before installing the coin cell battery and activating the pendant.
Because battery chemistry varies across individual devices, it is difficult to provide exact recommendations. It is safe to say that the longer the time and the lower the temperature, the greater is the risk of damage.
If an end user is outdoors when temperatures are below 32°F, the pendant should be worn under clothing to protect it from exposure.
The pendant should not be left in a cold vehicle below 32°F for any period of time.
